Markus Svensson & David Eriksson
David and Markus are among Sweden’s most distinguished and highly regarded folk musicians, with more than two decades of shared artistry. Together, they explore the breadth of Sweden’s traditional music, bringing together regional styles from across the country in performances that both honor historical traditions and resonate with a contemporary vitality.
For this performance, they have chosen to feature the Kontrabasnyckelharpa. This 18th‑century instrument, known for its deep drone and earthy tonal range, imparts a particular gravity and warmth to their music.
Through their finely attuned interplay, sensitivity, and inherent sense of rhythmic nuance, they invite the audience on a musical journey in which historical material is revitalized and illuminated anew. It is a meeting of time, timbre, and artistic joy – shaped in a manner achievable only by two musicians with more than twenty years of shared experience.
