HARMONICA Melodies after Leon Lewandowski and Marian Wójcik
Led by: Mateusz Raszewski
For: All levels
What to bring:
Your own tremolo harmonica in C
The harmonica may be the smallest instrument capable of playing a mazurek – but to play it well, you must become the breath and the sound. We’ll explore the art of breathing through the instrument and of “becoming” the mazurek itself.
The repertoire will focus on melodies from the late Leon Lewandowski (harmonica player and fiddler from the Kalisz region), Marian Wójcik, and the Muzyka Odnaleziona (Rediscovered Music) collection. Throughout the session, we will emphasise the crucial principle: that harmonica playing serves the dance and must follow the rhythm of the dancers’ steps.
