FRAME DRUM Accents

For beginners – you need to bring your own instrument; a limited number of instruments will be available on site

The workshop will focus on the basic instrument skills – from health and safety rules and ergonomics, through playing techniques, to exploring ways to produce a full sound. We will work on body posture and developing the senses that are essential for harmonizing with the melodypaying particular attention to the rhythms and pulse characteristic of the mazurkas. We will learn several embellishments and explore their place in the melody.

Katarzyna Rosik – practitioner, animator, and promoter of Polish traditional music. She learns the musical craft through meetings with masters, attending events, and from archival recordings. She is particularly drawn to the culture of the Kajok microregion (Radom area) and, more recently, to the culture of Kuyavia. She learns drumming from the Radom masters of rhythm, including Stefan Gaca and Józef Lipiński, and from archival recordings.
