This workshop provides an introduction to Ukrainian traditional dances, focusing on the basic principles of movement, rhythm, coordination, and pair interaction. It will cover dances such as the circle kolomyika, kolomyika in pairs (Boyko region), and kozachok (a solo improvised dance, primarily from central Ukraine), as well as selected movement elements related to the tropak (stomping technique).
Polya Zapolska – cultural animator, artist, traditional dance teacher, co-founder of the Zachepyha Traditional Dance School, winner of the 2023 Old Tradition competition (together with the Dgori band) and member of the Stacja Syvash band.
Yevheniia Shulha – researcher, teacher, and musician. Co-founder of the Zakhepyha Traditional Dance School and Orff Approach educator. She works with children, the youth, and adults in the fields of traditional music and dance.
