We’ll explore the favorite melodies of the late, legendary fiddler Tadeusz Kubiak – including the kujon, kujawiak, oberek, and even a poleczka (a lively little dance in quick triple time) – all in his distinctive style.
We’ll begin with the slow, expressive kujawiak – a tune full of grace, subtle ornamentation, and rhythmic freedom that perfectly captures the master’s touch. Then, we’ll dive into the faster rhythms of the oberek and kujon to experience how Łęczyca music, though seemingly calm, can suddenly lift you off your feet and sweep you onto the dance floor.
Under the guidance of Paweł Ladorucki (who played with Kubiak from the start) and Natalia Lewandowska (Kubiak’s student), we’ll explore the rhythm, pulse, and phrasing that make this tradition so alive.
Along the way, we’ll share stories of how the master played, shaped his tunes, and improvised with lightness and grace.
Everyone will have the chance to play with us, feeling the energy of Kubiak’s music firsthand.
This is more than dance music: it’s a living tradition that still moves and connects people. Join us on a musical journey to discover the sounds of Łęczyca!

About the Tadeusz Kubiak Band (Kapela im. Tadeusza Kubiaka)
The Tadeusz Kubiak Band, hailing from Leśmierz, continues the musical traditions of their master, Tadeusz Kubiak (1927–2008).
The current line-up maintains a direct link to the source: Paweł Ladorucki (three-row Polish accordion), who played with Kubiak for years; Natalia Lewandowska (fiddle), his devoted student; and Marek Bartczak (baraban).
The band is a celebrated force in Polish folk music – winners of the Baszta Award at the Kazimierz Dolny Festival of Folk Bands and many other regional prizes.
You can hear them on the album Bez Nut, where they perform alongside the Master himself.
