Piotr Gaca
A fiddler from Rdzów (Radom region), born in 1928. He is an outstanding fiddler who uses a vintage playing technique, and a great virtuoso. He had won the first prize at the Folk Musicians and Singers Festival (Festiwal Kapel i Śpiewaków Ludowych) in Kazimierz Dolny (1995) plus many prizes at various other festivals.
In 1950s he started a family folk band of the Gacas with Władysław (accordion) and Jan (drum). Afterwards, he played with bass player Leon Rek, fiddler and drummer Józef Papis, and with his son Stanisław Gaca – accordionist.
Piotr Gaca performed often in the Dance House in Warsaw, i.e. at the 1996 Shrovetide on Korzenie (Roots) Stage in Remont club, in 1997 in SCEK at Jezuicka St. and WOK at Elektoralna St., where together with Jan Gaca and Tadeusz Jedynak they had played mazurkas on three fiddles, racing each other in musical ornamentation.
